Soma is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in the dynamic world of software and payments. His illustrious career has spanned the globe, leaving behind a string of successful projects and innovations.

In 2012, Soma founded iKaaz, a leading mobile wallet company. iKaaz has achieved remarkable success, culminating in its acquisition by Singapore-based Grab and listing on the Nasdaq. The platform has created a buzz in the Southeast Asian market, processing billions of payment transactions annually.

Soma’s journey in the payments industry also includes a stint as part of the founding team at Obopay India, where he coordinated the successful launch of mobile financial products in Asia and Africa. Later, his experience led him to Nokia, where he facilitated global integration across the product portfolio in collaboration with banks, mobile network operators (MNOs) and other financial institutions under the Nokia Money banner.

Prior to these achievements, Soma’s entrepreneurial spirit launched groundbreaking Linux-based products for both mobile and desktop platforms. His visionary leadership has led to strategic partnerships with Fortune 50 companies. Soma has played a pivotal role in the mobile industry, helping launch MySpace on mobile platforms and also leading numerous initiatives in North America, including pioneering automated subscriber downloads.

Soma’s career began in the trenches, developing system software products such as compilers and debuggers and collaborating closely with the underlying operating system kernel. This solid foundation has provided him with a deep understanding of software technology.

Soma completed Executive Strategy from Harvard Business School. He is also an alumnus of BITS Pilani, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Software Systems. His educational journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University.
